I plan to teach my Secondary 4 students how to write detective stories using weblogs. Through this activity, I hope students can learn more about writing detective stories and help each other improve writing skills.

I have selected 6 weblogs which teach people how to write detective stories. Students read through them (as well as other posts in the weblogs which are about writing skills) and then plan their own detective story. They are asked to post their writing plan on their own weblog. After that, they read other classmates’ weblogs and give each other some comments on the writing plan.

Students then write their detective story and post it on their own weblog. Again, they are asked to visit other classmates’ weblogs and give comments on the stories. Students revise their stories based on the feedback.

Finally, they post the final version of the story on a weblog specially opened by the teacher for this activity. This weblog will be opened to public so that other people can read and give comments.

In this activity, the weblogs serve as a source of information and a platform for them to exchange ideas and publish their stories.

For more details, please refer to my lesson plan uploaded in the course website.
